About
Ocean Maths is a registered charity working with schools. We are dedicated to helping children and their parents or carers work together to improve pupils mathematics.
We do this by:
- Providing specially designed homework that children and parents can share. The homework is fun, accessible and challenging
- Delivering workshops in schools in which parents and children engage in practical and enjoyable maths activities together
- Training teachers to help parents help their children to learn maths
Ocean Maths is proven to make a difference.
Through Ocean Maths:
- Schools have seen an improvement in maths results
Ofsted and schools have commented on the impact of Ocean Maths in raising pupils' attainment - There is better partnership between schools and parents
Ocean maths has a track record of engaging and involving parents, even in schools that have traditionally found this difficult. Schools and parents report that getting involved in Ocean Maths gives parents the confidence to participate in and contribute to other aspects of school life - There is better partnership between parents and their children
Ocean Maths helps parents to help their children. Working together builds trust, respect and confidence between them and is enjoyable and satisfying - Parents improve their maths and support skills
By attending workshops and working through the homework with their children, parents become more aware of how maths is taught in school. Parents' own maths skills improve as they develop the skills they need to help their children to improve - Teachers develop stronger relationships with parents and extend their professional development skills
Ocean Maths trains teachers to train their colleagues in Ocean Maths, including how to deliver workshops that engage parents - Teachers are supported in mathematics teaching
Specially designed Ocean Maths homework is available for all year groups. All homework is linked to the mathematics curriculum and can be integrated easily into teaching plans.
